Hi! My name is JS, welcome to my website, I am grateful you are taking some minutes to peruse over my work. My creative research mostly involves generating ideas and developing art forms from Japanese kanji character etymology knowledge. The recurring themes of my work have been duality and identity. I have used various types of media for output: graphic design, silkscreen printing, sculpture, installation, watercolor paintings.

Also, I collect manhole cards by cycling all over Japan and I print some of them on T-shirt. I currently teach ESL at 3 universities in Kyoto and Shiga and work as a cycling guide for tourists. A Youtube channel is on the way! Its purpose will be to learn the ideas behind Japanese kanji in a fun and light way via sketches and my Japanese lifestyle. Any curious person about all aspects of Japanese culture and any creator, artist, designer might find it appealing.
