Japanese calligraphy design & seal-style character design
A hyoban is a name plate (180 x 90 x 3 mm) most Japanese people hang in front of their house. These two kanji on the right are written in the sousho style calligraphy and they are homophones of my family name «mei» & «ran». The first kanji at the top of the right image can mean «bright, colorful, cheerful» and the second under means «storm, tempest». The same kanji are at the bottom left in red but those were designed according to seal-style character shapes. They were carved in a rectangular prism stone and used as a stamp.
