While a research student in the Graphic Design Department at Kyoto Seika University, I gathered research students from all departments to expose our works at university. As I was in charge of the promotion designs for the exhibition I played with Japanese characters' shapes and meaning for the developing of their visual designs.

The big character we see in the middle is a 3-D version of 中 meaning "in" and the small character in the middle of the vertical line within an eye representation is 外, which means "outside or foreign". The concept of the illustration is an "eye from outside looking in".
